Biography
Rebecca LaSala is a dually licensed Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the states of New Jersey and New York with expertise working with adolescents and young adults who have experienced early childhood complex trauma and school-related stressors. Rebecca earned her Bachelor’s in Social Work from Stockton University with a concentration in child welfare in 2013, and proceeded to achieve her Master’s of Social Work from Rutgers University, in an competitive, accelerated program in 2014. Rebecca is also certified to provide clinical supervision to those seeking clinical licensure.
Her career started by supporting youth in foster care and adoption settings providing attachment based therapies and recruitment services to establish residential permanency across the state of New Jersey. Her experience as a therapist at a residential program gave her the opportunity to provide young and adult mothers experiencing homelessness and addiction with attachment-based, trauma-informed care to help heal personal traumas while nurturing the parent-child relationship. It was in this role that she was trained in the Nurtured Heart framework, an approach which centers on emotional regulation and improving one’s “inner wealth” through positive reinforcement and helps establish healthy attachment. As a clinician in a school based therapeutic program, she currently provides trauma-informed treatments to at-risk youth in group, family, and one-on-one settings.
As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), Rebecca incorporates the use of unique and creative techniques from Trauma Informed CBT and other modalities to help people navigate complex emotional experiences. Her personal approach rests on building authentic, genuine relationships with a philosophy that all people deserve a safe, non-judgmental space to be heard. Rebecca is inspired by the inner strength of each one of her clients and looks forward to working alongside them as they use their innate resiliency and courage to work through difficult things to obtain emotional freedom.
Personal Statement
“Building genuine therapeutic relationships is the foundation of my work. I believe that when people have a sense of emotional safety there is a natural opening for healing, growth, discovery, and transformation. My goal is to provide an environment where people will feel safe enough to express their vulnerabilities, allow themselves to connect to their emotions, and tap into their innate inner strengths to be successful and meet their goals. When people feel supported and empowered, I believe they build the confidence they need to make healthy choices and recognize the potential or future success. I understand that seeking help can feel overwhelming, I respect a person’s courageous choice to engage in therapy and to work through their difficulties in hopes for a better tomorrow.
My approach to therapy is psychodynamic which gives individuals the freedom to self reflect and help them identify patterns that contribute to unique challenges they face. I incorporate the use of unique and creative grounding and emotional regulation techniques to help people navigate complex emotional experiences. Being client-centered is another value I bring to each session as I give the opportunity for clients to incorporate their own regulation tools (art, music, games, etc.) to help them feel more comfortable during sessions. When people feel supported and empowered I believe they build the confidence they need to make healthy choices and recognize the potential for future success.”
